YOTA Camp 2022 — An Amazing Experience

he second YOTA (Youth On The Air) camp was held the week of June 12, 2022, at the Voice Of America Museum in West Chester, Ohio. We (Katie, KE8LQR, and Grace, KE8RJU) both had the opportunity to attend, along with 19 other young hams (). The goal of the camp was to provide an opportunity for young people with ham radio licenses to come together and build strong relationships with their peers and mentors while developing new radio skills. Throughout the week, we did many different workshops including launching balloons, building kits, operating satellites, radio-direction finding, and so much more. Campers also had the opportunity to operate on HF and satellites with the special event callsign, W8Y. The stations that campers had the opportunity to use consisted of radios). Thank you to all of our sponsors, and anyone who made a contact with W8Y during the week!
