Great reads for August

ETWEEN 1899 and 1988 the satirical journal featured Winston Churchill in more than 600 cartoons, and now they have all been gathered together by Gary Stiles into a magnificent doorstopper of a book, (Unicorn, £50). These caricatures of the great man and his many interests provide not just a fascinating insight into Churchill’s life but also changes in society and attitudes over nearly 100 years.
