Why the ‘office’ has to change

We were streaming a TV show the other night that was set in '70s corporate life - no computers, no mobiles, no internet, just lots of paper notes and meetings. It is striking how difficult it must have been to navigate some of the political and business realities of governments and global corporations of the day.

What also struck me was how important HR was to help create the structure for the human side of the workplace. The '70s and ’80s saw the dramatic rise of HR management, settling disputes and advocating for greater fairness for people at work.
