MSC MERAV GLIA Caribbean cruising… Italian style

Registered in Valetta, Malta, MSC Meraviglia (‘wonder’ in Italian) is the lead ship in the Vista Project class of two vessels (the other is MSC Bellissima). Ordered in March 2014 at STX Shipyards at Saint-Nazaire, France, she was laid down in October 2015, and construction proceeded rapidly, with the ship being launched in September 2016. She entered service on 3 June 2017 after being christened by film legend Sophia Loren (godmother to all MSC ships).

The Vista and , are currently in service, while a third vessel, , modified to run on LNG, will enter service in mid-2023. When  entered service, she was the sixth largest cruise ship in the world, behind Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class ships and .
