The Italian purist

Alfonso Bialetti's coffee pot works like this: fill the bottom tank with water and scoop finely ground coffee beans into the coffee basket. Place the pot on hot coals or over a gas flame. The water boils and the steam rises through the ground beans. Coffee then collects in the tank at the top. It makes enough coffee for one cup.

Place a paper filter in a holder, screw the holder to the bottom of the sylinder, scoop ground beans into the sylinder followed by boiling water. Place it on top of a coffee cup, insert the piston at the top
