RAHAM Matassa has always had a penchant for horsepower based squarely on the shoulders of Chevrolet's Bowtie. That passion stretched back over 50 years. He originally started drag racing and doing some club circuit racing. That was followed by a steady stream of top-class shoebox Chevies, a shot at Pro Stock drag racing, some late great Impalas and muscle cars. Several of those have been featured in this magazine over the years: first, a drag racing Pro Stock Viva in our April '82 mag. Then his outstanding ‘61 Impala bubbletop 409 in the April ‘87 issue, and his ‘71 Chevelle LS5 454ci big block featured back in July '05 NZHRM.
