MAKE A SIMPLE COMPOST BIN

A compost bin is an essential part of any garden and there’s a real delight in turning organic waste into a perfect food for your plants. You can buy a pre-made bin, but it really is quite simple to make one yourself and you can add in extra features to help it perform at its best.

The project shown here turns a simple wire and post structure into an insulated bin. This helps to speed up the composting process, even in cooler months.

Straw insulation makes for a really attractive bin. Try to get organic straw if you can, but any residual chemicals should wash out over the time it takes compost to break down.
