M ost games are polite enough to wait until you’ve died before telling you that you’ve died. Project Zomboid does it before you even start playing. It’s not done out of cruelty. The game is just being honest with you. “These are the end times. There was no hope of survival. This is how you died.” That’s how the game begins because your fate is sealed, and there’s no sense pretending otherwise.

can be brutal, punishing, and completely unforgiving, but it is also one of the deepest and most complex open world zombie survival games ever made. But just because a game is nearly perfect doesn’t mean it can’t be made even better with mods, and whether you’re planning on trying it for the first time or you’re a veteran, there are lots of fun ways to add a bit more to your survival experience.
