Unhealthy shelves

With the sustainability of bedding being questioned, I wonder why supermarkets and DIY stores still offer trolleys of plants, most of which seem destined for the bin! This year there seems to be many more dead plants on show. Maybe the watering requirements of peat-free compost are catching them out?

Yesterday a whole plant trolley of dead veg was outside my local supermarket and even the ‘high end’ one had very sad-looking plants. Surely the effort and expense of growing, transporting then not selling is contrary to our green
