Texting a killer
Monica Moynan lived an hour away from her mum, Melanie Tucker, in Holly Springs, North Carolina.
The 22-year-old led a busy life. As well as looking after her two daughters, Kayleigh, 3, and Nova, 8 months, she had two jobs.
But she always had time for her mum.
Although they didn’t see each other every week, Monica and Melanie remained close, keeping in regular contact by text.
The messages were reassuring to Melanie.
In 2017, her daughter’s ex-boyfriend, Brian Sluss, then aged 41, had assaulted Monica.
