FOXHOUNDS

THE VWH hounds dominated the major classes at this year’s show and won both championships with hounds drawn from their two-couple entries, the doghounds with the badger-pie and broken-coated Fenman 21 and the bitches with another outstanding whiskery hound, Singsong 21, a nearly white bitch who oozed quality.

“Fenman is just such a fantastic mover,” agreed judges Charmian Green and Marty Wood. Marty had come over from Florida especially to judge, where he has been joint-master of the Live Oak hounds for 48 seasons.

Martin Scott breeds the VWH hounds, and just to emphasise the extraordinary depth of quality in the kennel, he pointed out that Fenman’s brother Fearnaught was judged to be the best unentered doghound at Peterborough last year, but they had left him at home.
