Huge rise in scammers impersonating real businesses
Scammers impersonating legitimate businesses and organisations stole £580m from Britons in 2021, an increase of 40 per cent year on year.
The figure comes from the annual fraud report published by banking trade body UK Finance (), which warned that the country is suffering from an “epidemic of fraud”.
