BACK in the 1920s and ’30s, flyweights were very common and the UK had a reputation for producing the best of them. Two of the finest were Jackie Brown and Bert Kirby. Brown is part of that magnificent triumvirate of Manchester boxers, managed by Harry Fleming and trained by Jack Bates, which also included Johnny King and Jock McAvoy.
