Alex Palou won the IndyCar championship in 2021 – only his second year in the series and his first with Chip Ganassi Racing – and currently sits third in the 2022 points race with seven rounds to go, very much in the hunt to successfully defend his crown. Yet even if he conquers this quest, next year he will not be a Ganassi driver – and is unlikely to be one ever again.
