The Somerset landscape around my hillside studio is rich with subject matter for my paintings. I make discoveries on my daily walks with my Spanish Water Dog, Zorro, from the distant Westbury White Horse, 15 miles away, to orchids nestling in the grass beneath my feet. I feel grounded in the surrounding countryside as I observe its growing seasons and I have developed my painting practice in parallel, experimenting with watercolours based around countryside motifs.
Currently my interest is piqued by a riot of grasses and flowers in the meadow opposite my home. The field changes character and colour every few weeks; sometimes its colours are predominantly green and yellow, at other times, pink or blue, or crisp tans and blacks.
