THE evening of Wednesday May 4 saw me heading north to Kettering, for a talk to the members of Northamptonshire Alliance CBS. I was in a good frame of mind because at home (Berkhamsted) we had been treated to the first decent rain for six weeks!

This club holds its monthly meetings at The Athletic Club, Rockingham Road, Kettering NN16 9AE on the first Wednesday of each month. My talk was arranged by email. This was the second talk that I had made after the long Covid-19 lockdown period, the first being to members of High Wycombe CBS,
