Designed by Emil Fahrenkamp, Shell-Haus (simply translating as Shell House) was built for the oil company of the same name between 1930 and 1932, but its journey began in the late 1920s. Shell’s parent company wanted an imposing and impressive new office in Berlin and opened up to offers, with Fahrenkamp from the Düsseldorf Academy of Art given his chance. He was known for more conservative designs, but this was far more adventurous.
