Victoria, Canada My debut at the Wiener Staatsoper, singing Lysander in Britten’s . I will never forget the exhilaration I felt as I stepped on that stage for the opening Canadian tenor Benjamin Butterfield was my voice teacher at the University of Victoria. To this day, he continues to be a great mentor, friend and inspiration, not only from his wonderful singing but also his sage advice. I have two: to be a soloist at the Wiener Opernball at the Wiener Staatsoper, as well as to be a soloist at the BBC Proms in Royal Albert Hall.
