Y sporting life began before I was born. Four hours to be exact, as my mother caught a beautiful 12lb Usk salmon and then went straight to the cottage hospital to have me. It was reported to my father, stationed in Germany with the Blues and Royals, that his wife had ‘landed’ two whoppers. I look back on my idyllic Legge-Bourke childhood in Wales [at Glanusk Park], with my older sister, Tiggy, and two younger brothers, Harry and Bert, with such happiness.
