With so many days being cancelled, it is a real privilege to be out; a day on the hill is about so much more than a bird in the bag

here are few finer thingsthan the Scottish moors in August accompanied by an invitation to shoot grouse. Whether they are walked-up or driven, these birds are a delight for any Gun. The king of the gamebirds is famous for its silent flight and speeds of up to 70mph, so the chance to test your mettle on the moors is something to be cherished. A last-minute invitation to shoot over pointers during a lean season came from an old school friend, John Sugden, owner of country tailors and outfitters Campbell’s of Beauly. Awarded a Royal Warrant to HM The Queen as tailors in 2017, this year Campbell’s received a warrant from HRH The Prince of Wales as tailors and tweed mercers.
