COUNTING DOWN TO HER 75TH BIRTHDAY ON A TRIP TO WALES THE DUCHESS OF CORNWALL OPENS UP IN NEW DOCUMENTARY AS FRIENDS TELL HELLO! WHY SHE IS ONE OF THE MOST LOVED MEMBERS OF THE ROYAL FAMILY
She does not turn 75 until Sunday, but the Duchess of Cornwall was treated to an early celebration last week, when a group of schoolchildren presented her with a cake and sang Happy Birthday.
Camilla was visiting Millbrook Primary School in Bettws, Newport, to open its new library when she received the tuneful tribute, sung in both English and Welsh.
She also, in her role as patron of the National Literacy Trust, launched her The Duchess’s Birthday Books project, which will provide 75 primary schools in disadvantaged areas across the UK with a wellbeing-themed mini library.
It was just one of the causes Camilla highlighted during the three-day tour of Wales, which saw her and her husband the Prince of Wales greeted by crowds of well-wishers as they visited communities around the country.
And speaking exclusively to HELLO! to celebrate her birthday, some of the Duchess’s friends and supporters, including Gyles Brandreth and Paul O’Grady, told us why she is more popular then ever and that, far from putting her feet up, she is busier than ever, too – and always full of fun.
