01 ARMISTICE OF MUDROS

The armistice between the Ottoman Empire and the Allies is signed aboard the Royal Navy’s HMS Agamemnon, anchored off Mudros, bringing an end to the conflict in the region. The ruinous armistice grants the Allies direct control of Constantinople and the Bosporus Strait. Later the Treaty of Sèvres, declared on 10 August 1920, almost partitions Anatolia but it is never ratified.
