VOGUE: Virginie, how and when did you first meet Sofia?

VIRGINIE VIARD: “Sofia worked as an intern alongside Karl [Lagerfeld] in the Fashion Creation Studio in the 1980s. I’ve always loved her films, and we met on different occasions, at Chanel shows and events. We really started working together on the occasion of the Mademoiselle Privé exhibition that was organised in Tokyo a few years ago. It was not only the beginning of our collaboration, but also of our friendship.”

V: Sofia, what is your earliest memory of Chanel? Can you remember your first piece from the house?
