In the immediate postwar era, Lincoln sales trailed those of luxury-market giants Cadillac and Packard. To close the gap, Lincoln unveiled redesigned cars for 1952 on a shared 123-inch chassis and a 214-inch-long body shell. While the makeover bolstered sales to a new high of 40,762 units for ’53, chief stylist William
