An impressive diversity of historic brickwork is found across the UK, reflecting regional variations in the type of clay available as well as changing architectural fashion. Myriad colours can be found, such as the creamy buffs seen in Cambridgeshire, various oranges in the Midlands, and soft reds on many Georgian townhouses. As a building material it is remarkably durable, though attention will sometimes be required.
