I started sewing when I was around 10 years old. My grandmother gifted me a hand-cranked sewing machine. My mother and I would work out how to thread this machine using some very old tatty instructions that came with it. We’d have a play to see how it worked and sew scraps together. I think my mum must have picked up some skills as a child, as my grandfather used to do a lot of cross-stitching art works. My mum always inspired me to be who I wanted so I guess she inspired me to be creative!
The best garment that I’ve made has got to be a burgundy coat that I made a few years ago. I’d seen a coat in a shop, and I loved it but I wasn’t about to pay £1,500 for it! So I decided to make a version of it myself. It’s one of my favourites, it certainly makes an impact and I always get lots of lovely comments!
One of the worst garments I’ve made, hmm… that’s a tricky question. I have to say it must be one that I made in college it was really bad. It was basically a shirt
