KRELL K-300i DIGITAL
High-quality high-power amplification has been the backbone of Krell Industries for more than 40 years. Together with tank-like build quality, this kind of rock-solid amplification has been the design strength most associated with this company that took its name from an extinct race of advanced beings in the 1956 MGM science fiction film Forbidden Planet, but headquartered in the more down-to-earth environs of Orange, Connecticut, some 15 minutes down the i95 highway from New Haven.
It all started with the KSA-100 solid-state super-amp, launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in 1981 and subsequently cited by The Absolute Sound as one of the 10 most significant amplifiers of all time. Krell spent the next three decades forging a reputation as solid as the build of its ultra-high performance equipment.
More recently the company has reignited its digital legacy. Its Illusion II preamplifier gained coaxial, optical and AES/EBU inputs for use with streaming devices and other digital sources, then later the ‘Vanguard Universal DAC
