SPACE NEEDLE
The futuristic Space Needle was built for the 1962 World’s Fair hosted by Seattle, Washington. That exposition’s theme was “the Age of Space.” Workers spent eight months erecting the famous tower. It reaches 605 feet into the air. The UFO-like top structure measures 520 feet in diameter. It offers 360-degree views of Seattle’s skyline, including Puget Sound and Mount Rainier. Over the years, the Space Needle has undergone renovations. Its latest improvement was the installation of the Loupe, an all-glass rotating floor high above Seattle.
