PUB TALK

There has been nothing very exciting locally to attend or report on since the last column. That is rather dismissive of the MCN Peterborough show not so far away, but which PUB has not been to since the days when it was the BMF Show. It is also unduly dismissive of the Rugby ‘Bikefest’, also not far away. Perhaps the latter is because it is free with no need to book, and the main ‘exhibits’ are the visitors’ bikes – mostly modern stuff rather than the classics that appeal more to PUB.

Neither is Rugby a name that motorcycling conjures up, for it is not famed for its bikes like nearby Coventry or Birmingham. However it does have a few links, for BTH, makers of some of the best magnetos, hail from there, and competition riders may notice that their race licences come from the ACU office in Wood Street, Rugby, as they have for decades past.
