Keepin’ things patched

In last month’s column, we looked at the first thing that every cyber expert will tell you when asked about the best thing you can do to secure your stuff – implement two-factor authentication. This month, we’ll take a look at the second thing they will tell you: make sure all your software is up to date.

In most cases, when a new exploit is found, the software makers will produce an update as soon as they can. On mobiles, the Play Store or iOS App Store will then push the updated copies down to devices. On PCs, however, that doesn’t always happen automatically, and most of us don’t religiously
