Curio

he Wisconsin Historial Society Archives cares for reams and reams of paper, but it also contains some surprises. One of those is costume designer Dorothy Jeakins’s notebook for the 1965 film,. The notebook contains swatches of fabric for each character stapled directly to the page, interspersed with short notes about scenes and some doodles. It’s an utter delight for any fan to page through the book and touch the fabric used in iconic costumes such as the play clothes made from curtains used in “Do Re Mi” or the pink chiffon used in Liesl Von Trapp’s dress for “Sixteen Going on Seventeen.”
