When I was a teenager, I read a book called The Mighty Mini. The author had had his Mini stolen. The insurance payout wasn’t enough to replace his car with an equivalent, so he bought a cheaper Mini in poor condition. The book described how he set about rebuilding and refurbishing it.
Fifty-five years later, Sue and I found ourselves in the same position with our ‘new’ motorhome. Two months after our beloved motorhome, Nicolle, was stolen, the insurance company settled our claim. We decided to look for another Chausson Flash 02. The layout suited us, we liked the Ford chassis and, at 5.67 metres, it fitted on our drive.
Problem. After the third coronavirus lockdown, secondhand motorhomes were like hens’ teeth! With travel restrictions and the government advising staycations, lots of newbies were muscling in on the hobby we love so much.
