AWIDE, green valley panorama lit by a lowish sun took our breath away and made me pull over into a shallow layby and start taking photographs.
We were only a couple of minutes from arrival, according to the satnav, but this was too good to miss. A narrow river wound its way through sweeping grazing and past woods that were just beginning to acknowledge early spring with that fuzzy aura of budding leaves.
On the right of the view was one of the few buildings in this quintessential Devon landscape, tall and white, adding scale to the picture.
