Taking the first step

Peering into the distance, I spotted SpongeBob SquarePants and the familiar quiff of Elvis.

As they neared, I looked down at my two girls, Grace, then 4, and Mia, nearly 2.

Sure enough, as the runners clad in fancy dress jogged past, the girls squealed in delight, cheering and waving.

They loved to see the outfits of the competitors as they lolloped around the course of the London Marathon.
