THE meeting kicked off with the William Haggas-trained Baaeed running out a comfortable winner of the Queen Anne Stakes under hands and heels. Nothing has yet tested him while he has racked up eight straight wins in little over a year.

The star of the day, however, was Nature Strip, the first Aussie raider to win at the meeting since Black Caviar in 2012. While the US speedball Golden Pal blew it at the start, Nature Strip cruised through the King’s Stand Stakes to win by 4½ lengths – a huge margin in a Group One,
