Driving the passes after the ‘Rona

As Covid-19 and its variants settled the country, Paul Richards’ family have had a brush with the ‘tricky virus’ and it temporarily stopped overlanding play. He takes up the story:

Our daughter and family, who farm near Ashburton, all got Coronavirus when hubby went to squash and inadvertently brought it home. My partner Raewyn and I had been in contact with them shortly before they tested positive so we cancelled our planned five-day trip to Te Anau to visit Milford, Mavora Lakes, Walter Peak Station, Lake Monowai and possibly out to South Arm of Lake Manapouri to wait out the 10-14 days at home to see if we too had caught it.
