The number of openly LGBTQ+ Members of Parliament (MPs) in the UK reached a record high after the December 2019 general election, with representation remaining steady across the political spectrum since then. Queer politicians are being seen and heard more than ever before, with a number of them using their platforms to advocate for things such as a comprehensive ban of so-called ‘conversion therapy’, gender recognition reform and LGBTQ-inclusive education.
