If you are familiar with the golf course, it’s easy to forget that St. Andrews is just as famous for its university.
Indeed, the university and the golf course have been the two great pillars of the ‘old grey toon’ for the past 600 years; and they remain so today. To misquote Bobby Jones, take both those experiences out of the place, and you have anything but a rich, full town. In fact, you would be left with a rather tired Tesco Metro and an empty beach; albeit one on which Chariots of Fire was filmed.
