If there is one core interest that readers of Scotland magazine share, it is a passion for the country they love, and it was this same passion that inspired a group of the Scottish Enlightenment’s greatest names to create a society in 1780 that was incorporated by Royal Charter three years later “to investigate both antiquities and natural and civic history in general with the intention that the talents of humankind should be cultivated and the study of natural and useful sciences should be promoted.”
