PARABOLIC PROBLEM-SOLVING

At the ripe old age of 60 I got back into air rifle shooting with my first PCP. Following the masses, it appears the in thing is to draw a parabolic curve to plot your pellet rise and drop at various distances. The more shots and plots you do makes it easier to draw your parabolic curve.

Being a little older and looking into things deeper, got me thinking rather than shooting loads of targets at various distances and plotting the impact points, you adopt geometry? If you plotted: 1st point: barrel exit. (rise), 2nd point: optimum rise, 3rd point: same as barrel exit (drop). You could adopt a geometry approach
