On 14 June 2017, a small fire – which began in a fridge-freezer in the early hours of the morning – led to a terrifying inferno which killed 72 people.
Firefighters, ambulance crews and the police battled desperately to save residents from the 24-storey Grenfell Tower, but not everyone could be rescued.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, the type of cladding – which had already been condemned after an earlier fire – was blamed for the rapid speed and the breadth of the blaze.
Today the tower is shrouded, but still stands against the skyline,
