Boca find a way to win again

To explain how and why his team had just booked their place in the final of Argentina’s League Cup, 20-year-old midfielder Alan Varela put it simply. “Because we are Boca,” he said holding back the tears, “the best.”

Varela had just scored the decisive penalty against Racing Club in the semi-final shootout to set up a final against Tigre. It had been a rocky few months but Boca were finally pulling rank, as their history demands.

Varela and company would be crowned champions a few days later, running out 3-0 winners
