Asian Cup qualifying

Compared to much of the rest of the world, qualification for major events in Asia tends to be more complex. Qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, for example, started back in June 2019 and finished almost three years later. In some ways, it has not really finished at all because the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) decided to merge the road to Qatar 2022 with qualification to the 2023 Asian Cup.
