The arrested development of Miri Matthewson is the subject of Back to Life, a brilliantly dark British comedy. It’s co-written and created by Daisy Haggard, who also plays Miri, a 30-something released from jail after serving 18 years for murder.

The last time Miri was a part of society, she listened to music on a Walkman, idolised Michael Jackson and had to get film processed to view photos. Launched into the 2020s, Miri miraculously manages to keep her Tamagotchi alive, but everything else is a slow car crash.
