ANDALUSIAN INSPIRATION
jewel of Hispano-Moorish architecture, the Alhambra palace complex in Granada, Spain, has captivated, a range of 3Dprinted and hand-glazed ceramic cups, vessels, and candleholders. Continuing its celebration of Mediterranean culture and craftsmanship through a contemporary lens (Trame’s two previous collections took their cues from Meknes in Morocco and southern Italy’s Calabria region, respectively), the company enlisted a trio of designers — including French architect Arthur Mamou Mani, who conceived the cup pictured above — to visit the Alhambra and draw inspiration from the geometric patterns and shapes of its interiors: a confection of ornate honeycomb vaulting, scalloped fountains, carved stucco walls, and arabesque archways. The resulting objects are a chic, thoughtful tribute to Spain’s Moorish past ().
