Born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, Christy Lee Rogers is a fine-art photographer whose unique style of work is represented by galleries around the world.
Her works have been exhibited globally, including Paris, London, Mexico City, Shanghai, São Paulo and Los Angeles.
Christy has been featured in many international titles, including Vogue, Art China, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle Decoration, Global Times and The Independent.
In 2019, she was named Open Photographer of the Year at the Sony World Photography Awards.
Christy is a two-time finalist in the Contemporary Talents Award from the Fondation François Schneider in France.
In 2019 she was commissioned by Apple to create underwater images with the iPhone 11 Pro.
The photography of Christy Lee Rogers is almost impossible to categorize. At first glance, her multi-blended images look more like paintings, and are frequently likened to Baroque art and the works of Caravaggio. They are certainly romantic in their vision, with a richness and vibrancy of colour that would probably have appealed to the Italian master.
Of course, the methodology behind the creation of Christy’s photographs is far different to the techniques applied to one of Caravaggio’s works. Her canvas is the surface of a swimming pool, in the depths of which are models draped in colourful fabrics, who hold their breath while moving into positions set by the photographer.
