Meet NZ’s queen of ROYAL ROMANCE

“In 2020, Olivia Hayfield wafted into the world with a little wink and perhaps a sashay. She was, according to her publishers, a ‘debut author’. But the woman behind Olivia was in fact in her fifties and had been writing for many, many years.

I should know because she is me. So how did a wholesome children’s writer and rather nerdy book editor morph into my alter ego Olivia, who, according to one reviewer, ‘reinvented the bonkbuster’? (I prefer to call Olivia’s novels ‘historical retellings’, but I can live with it.)

I hate to admit it, but I have Donald Trump to thank.

Many writers have their best ideas in the shower (strange but true) and such was the case, Olivia’s first novel. The dastardly Donald had been advising gentlemen who wanted to replicate his astonishing success with the ladies to ‘grab ’em by the p***y’.
