The Kamfari, some 80km drive south of Darwin, is widely known as Australia’s muddiest enduro, and is now in its 51st year. It tests man and machine over four hours with riders only allowed one pit crew to assist them for refuelling and repairs. Out on the course, marshals are stationed at various hot spots to help extract bikes that become swallowed up by the infamous, bottomless mud holes. Fellow competitors can also assist, but you might be hard pressed to get another rider to pull up as they are usually concentrating on getting through the bog without becoming another victim.
