UNEXPECTED CHALLENGES OF A MOBILE MARRIAGE

I look over at my husband as he drives us past a southern Texas wind farm, Tom Petty’s “American Girl” filling every corner of our RV as we inch closer toward the Rio Grande. We’re nearing the finish line of our pilgrimage to Starbase. The journey to see SpaceX’s largest rocket had begun in Pennsylvania, adding thousands of miles to our odometer and allowing us to check off 20 American states from our bucket list in the process.

I feel one of those magical moments approaching—the ones that I have learned to observe with curiosity as they pass over me. I breathe in and take a calm moment, a pleasant break from the never-ceasing adventure that has consumed our day-to-day, and I suddenly realize the beauty of this mobile life that we have built together. I swallow a lump in my throat and smile
