LONDON PREMIER

SEVENOAKS

Captain Nigel Gumbleton

Coaches Adam Bowman (DoR-head), Paul Dawson (defence), Michael Hebden (attack), Tom Swallow (breakdown)

Winning 16 consecutive matches was a formidable performance in a competitive environment that takes Sevenoaks to Level Four, their highest league status. It was their second title in three years, discounting the cancelled campaign in 2020-21. The Oaks secured the trophy with a 37-17 win over Hertford. They had the best defence in the division, won 23 of their 26 matches and picked up four more league points than runners-up Dorking. Leading scorers were wing Ben Adams with 18 tries and 313 points, and fly-half Patrick Pellegrini (16 tries). The second team also won their league and Bowman said: “It has been a huge squad and club effort.”

Centre Lewis Cracknell, the Peacocks’ top scorer with 211 points, celebrated his 100th game in the 47-8 win over Old Haberdashers in the final match. They won 24 and drew one of 26 games to fend off Sudbury by 11 points. Highlights included a great rapport between the squad and the fans, epitomised by the large number, including ace supporter Barbara Hansen, travelling to the game at Sudbury that clinched promotion. Leading try-scorers were centre Jack Biard (18) and wing Louie Tang (17).
